Cooking Delicious Chicken Curry At Home
Perhaps most of us love eating chicken, which makes it the second most-consumed meat worldwide after pork. Chicken is one of my favorite meats, and I enjoy all kinds of chicken dishes. We often cook a variety of meals with chicken, including chicken curry, fried chicken, chicken kebabs, pelau, tehari, barbecue, and more.
Just yesterday, my wife and I cooked chicken curry for lunch, just the two of us. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with making videos on different topics to share on my blog. So, when my wife asked if I wanted to record the process of cooking chicken curry, I didn’t hesitate to say yes! Please watch the full video to understand the cooking process of chicken curry at home. https://youtu.be/V_o3i_Zmgcw
Nutritional Benefits of Chicken:
Chicken meat offers numerous health benefits. It is low in fat and rich in high-quality protein. Skinless chicken breast, in particular, has the lowest fat content among all types of meat, making it an excellent choice for those following a healthy diet.
Chicken provides essential amino acids that contribute to its high protein value. It is also a good source of B-complex vitamins, including niacin (B3), which play a crucial role in energy metabolism. Additionally, chicken contains important minerals such as magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and zinc.
Notably, chicken is rich in phosphorus, selenium, and vitamins B3 and B6, nutrients that are vital for the digestion of fats and sugars, as well as for maintaining healthy cells. According to nutritionists, 100 grams of chicken consists of approximately 20% protein, 70.3% water, and 9.7% fat.
First Marinade:
Marinate 800 grams of skinless baby chicken with ½ tablespoon of ginger and garlic paste, ½ tablespoon of chili powder, and 1 teaspoon each of turmeric, cumin, and coriander powder. For best results, leave the chicken to marinate in the fridge overnight and cook it the next day.
Prepare the Ingredients:
Gather the following: oil, sliced onions and garlic, some green chilies, potatoes, onion-garlic-ginger paste, dried chilies, and garam masala spices—such as cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and bay leaves.
Cooking:
Heat the oil in a pan and allow it to warm up for a moment before adding the other ingredients.
- Add dried chillies and sliced garlic; stir it for
some time;
- Add sliced onions and some salt; fry them altogether
for 5 to 7 minutes
- Add 1 Teaspoon ginger, garlic and some onion
paste;
- Add some turmeric and chilli powder;
- Add some water and stir it for some time;
- Add marinated chicken and potatoes;
- Stir everything altogether for some time to mix
all the spices with chicken and put a lid on the deckchi/saucepan. Let it cook
for 20 to 30 minutes.
- During this cooking time, add some waters and
check if all the chicken and potatoes are cooked properly.
- After 30 minutes, add some green chillies and
cumin powder.
- Once the cook is done, serve the chicken curry
with rice or bread. Add some salad with it.
Our cooking was finished in under an hour, and we were all set to enjoy our lunch.
